No News Is Good News?

Think for yourself and feel the walls become sand beneath your feet. ~ Queen (Band)

All along, we follow blindly,
Force fed prime-time, previewed nightly,
Why would anybody leave the safety of their homes?

I wonder why,
Only disasters flood the headlines,
Other people’s misery,
Are on for the next three hours,
Commercial free.

And I can’t take much more of this,
We’re all so wrapped up, in it,
Nothing will change, but the channel,
So I turn it off.

I see billboards on the horizon,
I can’t imagine what they’ll tell me,
What to wear,
What to drink,
Where to eat,
It’s so easy not to think for yourself anymore,
So naive,
You don’t do anything anymore.

And I can’t take much more of this,
We’re all so wrapped up, in it,
Nothing will change, but the channel.

We all give in,
We all complain,
We sit and wait,
For things to change,
We're waiting...

Nothing will change, but the channel,
So I turn it off..
~ New Found Glory

Most people are more comfortable with old problems than with new solutions.  ~Author Unknown

TIME FOR A CHANGE
It's everywhere we look, it doesn't matter what season of the year, time of day, or anything else, the media and disasters flood into your life. TV,  radio, internet, it's everywhere you look, even if you are not looking for it! It plays on your mood and it can affect your actions. Not only negative stories in the media, but also "advertising" affects everyone's daily life in more ways than it ever did before, you can't go far without seeing or hearing some advertisement trying to persuade you! Can you live a life without all of these negative forces constantly showing up in your life? 20-30 yrs ago (without the internet and also TV/radio media/ads were not as prevalent today) there was a time when the media/internet didn't play such a integral part of our of lives. Can the youth of today imagine what that would be like? I doubt it. But regardless, young or old, You have a Choice, Your OWN Voice! We each have VOICE & OPINION! I urge you to not let it be persuaded so easily, don't give into the advertising of today or the negative media stories that flood the news!

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else; means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.  ~ E. E. Cummings

Flood The Headlines..  With Love..  Not Hate..  Why Not?
I don't get how people can watch the "News" at night, I used to, only see the weather, but I use the internet for that now. I don't need to sit and be bombarded with one negative story after another, why don't they report on the GOOD of today! There is Good happening all around us and you may not already know, but you are part of it! By spreading Love, peace, and joy to others you can fight the system and turn it around. Really today, things may seem bad in the world, or at least the government or media wants to capture your attention by fear and excitement. And don't get me wrong, there are many bad things that are happening in the world, in our country, in our states, possibly in each of our towns, BUT also, there is GOOD happening in our world, in our country, in our states, in our towns, in our communities, in our families, in YOU.

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.  ~ Mark Twain
(THINK about this.... Is the Majority always right? No and Mark Twain is implying maybe you should rethink your position!!!  Are you standing up for a reason? or just looking for reasons to stand up?

NOW, It's OUR Time
The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.
I wish the media would report and advertise more on this type of actions and stories during the broadcasts or on the internet. Why don't they? Ratings? Attract an audience?  Possibly people are more drawn to the fear and "exciting" bad stores than the good ones? But if we we're to report and show of the Good News then more people would become inspired and thus creating a self-sustaining positive world, that people would help each other out more.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.  ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Spread The Good News!
So I encourage you, next time you tell a story or talk about anything to another person or group of people, make it positive, make it GOOD! Are you inspiring the person you are talking to? or are you draining and tearing them down with negative and bad stories?  Build each other up!  You can do your part by refusing to watch these type of stories, I for these last couple years have given up on watching or reading the news, why tear myself down?  I have lived and continue to live a great life without reading or watching the news for over 3 years! All that bad news does is put a strain on your emotions or thoughts. So, instead put your thoughts and positive actions forward to helping others and helping create a more beautiful world.  Spread Good News = Spread God's Word. God = Love ~ Love = God. Good News = Spread Love!

Take the risk of thinking for yourself, much more happiness, truth, beauty, and wisdom will come to you that way. ~ Christopher Hitchens

Go & Be A Blessing

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.Henry David Thoreau

Let's not jump to conclusions, answers, and decisions right away, but also lets not think/ponder on topics or things too long either. See, Listen, Feel, Trust, Then Act &  Be a Blessing to others today.

Today's culture has the tendency to over-analyze every little thing or event that is happening, whether in the world or in your own life. I know I am guilty of doing it, and maybe you are know you are too. The time is now to be aware of this and realize neither you nor I will stop all at once with these bad habits of "seeing & judging" So starting today, let's loosen the stranglehold these "over-analyzing" ways have on our views, and also judgments and opinions we are usually to quick to arrive at.

Stop and Ask Yourself; "How Can I be A Blessing To Others Today?"

Everyday, Start It New In
Every way

Today, tomorrow, and the start of everyday, wake up to a new mindset. If you start off the day in the right way/mood (an open mind), then any obstacle that presents itself will easily be overcome and you will enjoy the day that God has provided you even more. Not only that, but your positivity and optimistic personality will start to rub off on those around you in your workplace, family, and everyone you come into contact with. So even though you may know someone who may be "crabby, grouchy, or negative" be the positive and the change/inspiration for THEM. By being the CHANGE for Yourself first!

Refocus... Look Again

You first need to be a more positive, slower to judge, quicker to forgive and forget, person of God. Before you can become a help,  impact or make a change in another person's life, you must first become a change in your life. Be a more positive person by becoming the strong foundation and representation of hope, love, bravery, hardworking, and inspiration for others to see and feel from you and your spirit that surrounds you. Then and only then once you come into contact with people everyday,  you'll start to impact them in the most positive way you can, every chance you get.

"We rise by lifting others."  ~ Robert Ingersoll

Feel Something New.. Feel Alive..

A handshake, pat on the back, a hug, a "Thank You", a simple form of appreciation, a friendly wave, a simple question of "Hi, How are you?" or even the simplest and most impacting form of love & friendship ... a SMILE... It will go a long way in not only in your life, but in all those around you that you come into contact with. So question is; "Why wouldn't you want to be a positive inspiration?" It's so simple, all you need to do is be a more positive and outgoing person.

Listen... God is trying to tell you something..

Listen less to yourself and listen more to what God is trying to tell you. You have to have an open mind and be ready to hear what is actually being said, instead of what you want to hear. Keep this in mind, listen to each other, when someone is talking, give them your full attention, instead of thinking of what you are going to say next, listening to what is actually being said to you. Give everyone an open ear to talk to and an open heart to let them in.

"Success isn't just about what you accomplish in your life, it's about what you inspire others to do."

You will not be judged. Just remember you are you biggest critic! By reaching out in the SIMPLEST FORM either by a friendly wave, smile, "thank you" or another form of showing appreciation or gratitude to one another will bring forth happiness, joy, love, and positivity in your life, but more importantly the IMPACT will double outward to all of those you touch and show gratitude and appreciation towards.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." -- John 3:16

Just as God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, so we could be saved. I encourage you to give positivity and love to one another more often. Gratitude, love & kindness to everyone you meet and come into contact with each and every day. Every day you impact another person in a positive way, it catches and spreads like a wild fire and the love and positive comments are spread to everyone around you and eventually back to you!

God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others and see, hear, & feel God giving you direction to impact others in a positive way!
It's Nice to Be Important, BUT it's More Important to Be Really Nice!

The Power of Prayer

”Ask, and it will be given to you; Seek, and you will find; Knock, and it will be opened to you. -- Matthew 7:7

Two of the main things The Gatsby Life is all about is;  Faith & Believing. With your beliefs and faith, you can achieve anything you seek out. In any situation all you need is a little faith, Faith in God, Faith in a Better Tomorrow, Faith in a higher power. Don't seek revenge, seek justice, seek peace, set out to change the course to have a better tomorrow/future by the positive actions you do today!

God is LOVE --- Love Is GOD

My Faith & Your Faith are not the same, (mine is no better or worse than yours) nobody in the world have the EXACT faith, practices, beliefs, weaknesses, strengths, which is WHY we are all UNIQUE! Trust me, I consider myself a Christian, and I know nobody is perfect, including myself. BUT, if you can relate and rely on your FAITH to get through most hard times or challenges you face on daily basis, then you will reassure yourself that Faith is true and God is present, as long you have your heart open and ready for him. We all fall into temptation, guilt, regret, SIN, including myself, AND as long as you are aware of it, then you know God will truly forgive you at the end of the day. I Sin everyday, but I know my God is a loving and forgiving God, and as long as you acknowledge and comprehend this, you will be forgiven, (no matter how small or large you SIN) It's Okay, God Loves You!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -- Philippians 4:6-7

What Prayer Can Do For You!

As a Christian, I truly Believe there is a higher power than Governs and Guides Us. GOD. As a Christian, a Skeptic & a True Believer there a "finely thin walked line" -- if you doubt this then you are only kidding yourself. But skeptics and true believers both know down deep his or her heart, that God is watching over them, and although it may take more moments for some than others to reassure them of this. I, Myself, am a true believer at heart, and there may be times I am conflicted with troubles, burdens, past troubles that will shake my beliefs (skeptic), but never crumble my true beliefs. Now you know a little history of me, let me tell you a story that happen just in the last two weeks.

A Miracle Re-assured My Faith

I have the best "small group" session at my church in Manhattan, KS. We meet up every Sunday Night, for "ALPHA Course" that is related with --> (http://www.alphausa.org). What makes this group of Adults/Teens so great is we have a group of about 8-10 people of with wide range of age, teen through adults (15-55 yrs) & consists of Skeptics & True Believers also, so it makes for great conversations! I encourage all to seek out a small group, great way to meet a great bunch of people, but also connect to the Lord and Learn from one another!

So week ago, Our topic for the evening consisted on "Prayer" & "Praying for Others" We prayed for each other and each person spoke out on a something that was bothering or troubling him or her mentally or physically. I told the group about my recent trouble with my legs. My legs have been bothering me for the last 4 months with my running/exercising  3-4 times a week with sore muscles, (along the shin bones and muscles). I've been to the doctor, physical therapists in the last months, multiple visits, pain killers/
muscle relaxers prescribed, and targeted stretches to be performed. But none have worked! I've been in pain for 4 monthes while my running 3-5 miles, & walking daily, up till that point. So the group prayed with me on my legs to have God help & heal me. While I remained skeptical about it. I have done nothing different in the last week and half, to change things or my routine, but my legs have never felt better! GOD HAS HEALED ME!

Believe IT, or not..

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” -- John 13:7

I speak to you with a renewed FAITH, I put my FAITH above everything else, but even more now and not a day goes by that I am not reminded of what my fellow brothers and sisters of my small group did to help me to come to this point. By praying for me, outloud and all together, they healed me and reaffirmed me in my faith and made my beliefs even stronger than they have ever been. Some of you may have may have heard the "God Works In A Mysterious Way" (sometimes not what you expect him to, or would like him to, but trust me he has his reasons). Back to my Legs, I prayed and prayed on this situation to have him heal me and make me feel better for months! But it wasn't until I have my friends from small group session, Pray for me and THAT is was when God listened and Healed me! My legs feel 100% today, I feel rejuvenated not only with my legs, but with my FAITH!

I encourage all of you to speak out to your loved ones, encourage them to pray for you and you for them. Pray for others is more powerful than prayer for yourself, take time for others, more than yourself, always put them before yourself. And Most Important Pray Outloud to God! Relate back to my last post "BREATHE" when you are having your moment in the morning, pray outloud for a good day and healing for your fiends in family, whether mentally or physically, tell God the actual ailment, or trouble that bothers your friends or famaily. We all need a guiding hand, a friendly prayer sent our way.

Pray For Others

Next time you are saying your prayers, be sure to mention those that especially need it, pray out to GOD.  He is always listening and He'll always respond. Sometimes it just needs more than one voice to reach him. So be sure to be open to your family and friends, they are here for you! God is ready to HEAR you. I have to say, the best time I felt, and the most I could feel God's presence, shaping and guiding my life is when my good friend, Andrew, would pray with me and for me. I could feel God's loving, guiding hands over me, protecting, and guiding me along my path. And to this day, I can only say thank you to Andrew, for being there for me, and praying for me, and Thank you God for listening and helping me through the hard times I faced and helping me to where I am today. I encourage you all to talk to your family or friends, open up, ask them what is bothering them, and tell them what is bothering you, and pray for each other!

~God listens and responds, not only when you pray for yourself, but when you pray for others and with Others!

Breathe

"Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure."  ~ Oprah Winfrey

"One hour’s meditation on the work of the Creator is better than seventy years of prayer." ~ Muhammad

Live In The Moment, But Give Thanks To The Present...
The Gatsby Life encourages you to live in the moment, live spontaneously, live in the now. Past posts have emphasized these themes on both a small and large scale. "The Possibilities Are Endless", "Time To Fly..." & most importantly "Start The Machine" posts. I truly believe you should live in the moment, plan when only (*necessary/important), & truly seek out LIFE every other chance you get!

But before you do this, I believe you must be at peace with yourself and God. I encourage you to try out these tips and ideas starting tomorrow morning. Get in a routine/habit of taking 5 to 10 mins in the morning while you enjoy that cup of coffee or tea and meditate to be "at peace" with yourself and God before you head off to work/class for the day. What exactly is meditating? How do you meditate? It's pretty simple, the great thing about meditating is that there is no right or wrong way to do it. It isn't just one thing or one type. It can be any way you want to do it and you can get whatever you want out of it also!

"Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like." ~ Lao Tzu

You Must Clear & Ease Your Mind... To Enjoy What Life Presents You Each Day
Here's how you will truly live a peaceful, more enjoyable life everyday!
  • Find a spot you love, that makes you comfortable, whether it be outside or inside, sitting, laying or standing. Just take this 5 to 15 minutes every morning and/or night to clear your mind before you start off on your busy day.
  • Let go off all of yesterday's problems and today's future worries and just don't think.
  • Breathe Deep and Let it Out
  • Now Stare out and Let your mind clear out
  • Let God Speak to You, (you don't have to do all the talking, I encourage you to do none at all actually!)
  • Don't think of what today may bring, but instead think of the Good things & memories that you have in your life up to this point.
  •  Then all that is left is to say: "Thank You, God"
  •  Now you will be ready for whatever life/work/etc presents itself today.
- This is ONE routine you should practice daily, every morning and/or night.

You should have some routines in life, routines can be a good thing, but too many can dull life down. Break away and step out of past habits, live spontaneously every now and thing, and never miss a chance to seize an opportunity that you wish to pursue.

"Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God." ~ Diana Robinson

Never Slow Down With Your Dreams, Hopes, & Loves.
The Gatsby Life encourages you to live your life in the most spontaneous, heart-filled, enthusiastic way you possibly can. Never slow down with your dreams, hopes, & loves. Live everyday in the most positive, inspiring way you can. Don't take time for granted. Its limited. Truly try to take in the best from every moment. And always remember the One Routine you should always practice, which is taking time to meditate, reflect, not speak, but listen to God, clear your mind, erase your worries every morning/night to better understand the bigger picture; the picture we call "Life"

"Ultimately spiritual awareness unfolds when you're flexible, when you're spontaneous, when you're detached, when you're easy on yourself and easy on others." ~ Deepak Chopra

"Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal." ~ John F. Kennedy

I have a sense we'll be alright...

We Need More Heroes: Help Others

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Life can get busy at times, we get caught up in the everyday moments, the everyday routine, work, eat, play, sleep... the list goes on.. When was the last time you stopped and thought about when you helped others?

~ No Cape Required ~

You do help others, you just don't realize it sometimes, because the smallest ways of helping/serving others is usually forgotten. But let's slow things down a little more and take it frame by frame. We should all be making an impact in someone else's life on a daily basis, whether it's big or small. That's up to you. Sometimes the smallest thing can make the biggest impact. Think about how; some simple kind words, a returned smile, a friendly wave, a hug, helping clean-up, help lift something, pat on the back, these actions (and so many more) have made YOU feel in the past. But, now it's not just about how good you feel when you receive help or friendly gesture, etc. It's feels even better when you GIVE these positive actions and help forward these feelings to others.

Don't Forget, You Are A Good Person (So Pass It On)

Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, "What's in it for me?" ~ Brian Tracy

We can all make a positive difference in the world everyday. Each one of you has a purpose in life, God has plan, but it is up to you and what you do along the way. The purpose of human life is to serve, show compassion, and the will to help others. I think one way you can help others is just by example. Lead by good example, stand up and help others, then truly you will Stand Out.
"Great HUGE opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day." ~ Sally Koch

I urge you as you continue down your path to inspire, impact, help, give, enlighten as many people as you possibly can. The world needs more heroes & the best ones are the ones that go about his or her daily life routinely impacting/inspiring others. Help each other, Care for one another, Give Back, Inspire, Donate, Be Kind, Volunteer, Make Peace. ~ We Only Have, What We Give ~

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” ~Charles Dickens

Always remember;
“When a person is down in the world, an ounce of help is better than a pound of preaching.” ~ Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton

A Time For Change....

A Time For...
When you feel either weak, alone, afraid, uncertain of whether you've made the right decision in any aspect of life, just stop and think for a minute about you've at least MADE a decision and you are putting yourself out there (moving forward instead of standing still).
Sometimes life can just  scare the bejesus out of you. Whether it's presents you questions and concerns that seem to big to be answered or possibly you find yourself in a new place, or new job or new outlook on life. When this scary moment is presented in your life, embrace because really that's when you truly know you're really living and can accomplish anything you seek out to accomplish and achieve.
“Fear, uncertainty and discomfort are your compasses toward growth.”

No More Worries...
People (including myself) get so caught up in the everyday things, such as self-identity, how they look?, will this be accepted?  will I be accepted? what she/he think of me? what to wear? what to do? what to say? is this enough? or not enough?
This really all gets all bunched up into complete and utter "nothing-ness" of life, This is not what is important in life. These simple self-conceded thoughts and actions really don't matter or make an difference/impact on our day-to-day lives. We all get too self-involved in our own lives that we spend over 95% of each day living all about "you" and only "you". We all need to (including myself) stop and expand out of our personal shell or "frame of mind"
Try:
Live for others, talk and have actions that benefit others, more importantly LISTEN to what they have to say instead of thinking of what you will say next. The clothes, the styles, the appearances  really don't matter in the end, it's the attitudes and connections you make along the way of your journey.

"Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.” –Jim Rohn

& Not Losing Sight...
Sometimes we can get distracted by the little everyday problems, and more often than not, they pile up and it can get overwhelming. But fear not, "It's just a bad day, not a bad life"   Life may not always seem to be going right, things may not always be the best, but even if you can't see the truly great things in yourself and your life, remember there's always people around you that can see it in you. They believe in you, so believe in yourself, but also believe in others around you!

To Feel Alive,
Life will scare you from time to time, and when it happens it may actually upset and worry you at the present time. But just know, that when it does, don't worry because it's a good thing!  It means "Things are a changing", That LIFE IS HAPPENING to you and you're right in the middle of it. When you truly get that moment of  being scared stiff from life and what will it bring, possibly get goosebumps and the hairs on your neck stand up. You will/may feel vulnerable, but trust me, You will feel more "Alive" than any other moment, so cherish the times and embrace the changes. Push forward and never stop seeking.

....To Experience Change.

Stay True To Yourself

I am not teaching you anything. I'm just here to help you to explore yourself.

This is your life. Your unique world, mind, body & spirit. We all have different lifestyles, beliefs, personalities, ambitions, dreams, goals, hobbies, habits, and so much more. And this is what makes the world we live in a beautiful place. Just think, what a dull place this would be if we were all similar in our beliefs and choices! One thing about your life is that it's constantly moving, in which direction? well that's up to you!

There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee

So are you moving positively forward in life or staying up on your plateau? Think to yourself at this moment, what are some things you've been putting off, small or big, it doesn't matter. Start today, make a list, and start checking them off your list one-by-one. The best time is now to get started. Don't become stagnant, be active in your life, keep building on your character and never be afraid of the decisions you make.

"Life is not a philosophy, it is not a problem; it is a mystery. You have to live it not according to a certain pattern, not according to a conditioning – what you have been told about it – you have to start afresh, from the very scratch." ~ Osho

Do not be in this world to live up to other's expectations and others are not in this world to live up to yours. Always learn something new each day. One thing to always remember is to always be yourself. And always express yourself, have faith in yourself. Do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate him/her. Be your own "character", your own "life style". Don't fall into the molds of what those around expect of you. Break the mold, break free, be different, be unique, unlock the potential and be the person God created you to be.

"Each human individual should think as if he is the first on the earth; he is the Adam or the Eve. Then you can open, you can open to infinite possibilities; then you will be vulnerable, available. And the more vulnerable you are, the more available you are, the greater the possibility of life happening to you."  ~ Osho

That which is never lost cannot be found, and to search for it is absurd. But the moment this absurdity is understood all seeking stops by itself and that which is never lost is found!

That is why I say: Seek and you will not find, because the very seeking is the barrier. The search itself is the hindrance because it creates the seeker, the ego, the illusion that “I am, and I am not"

Do not seek it outside of you and you will find it: Seek within:  This nothingness is the gate. The Gateless gate. ~Osho

Explore. The first thing you should explore is yourself. Who are you, what makes you unique, different, what makes you, YOU! Do not seek it from others of what you should be, believe, think, or live, act, or behave. The real answers lie within you, seek yourself from the inside out. Everything you want, dream, and strive for is hidden within you, the time is now to explore and unlock the potential. Always be yourself, and stay true to yourself and your own beliefs. God is talking to you, inside you, the question is... have you stopped & waited recently to listen?

Your whole world is available to you, to explore. And in exploring it, you will be surprised. That simultaneously, your inner world is being explored too. Because as you explore the outer world, your inside becomes deeper, your intelligence becomes sharper, your awareness becomes keener.

The effective fulfilled man is one, who has explored both the outer and the inner.

Have Less. Do More. Be More.

You are not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your damn khakis you wear. You're the all-singing, all-dancing, everything that is actually alive of this world.

“The things you own end up owning you. It's only after you lose everything that you're free to do anything.” ― Chuck Palahniuk

"Try to become not a person of success, but try rather to become a person of value."

This post relates back to my "Wanderlust" post & my "Simplify" post. If you haven't realized yet, it's all connected here in The Gatsby Life, in becoming and living a more naturalistic, simplified, inspiring, spiritual journey of which you call your life.

I encourage you to take a look around and make note of your possessions you value most and that you feel you couldn't live without. Now really think about that, could you really not live without them? Could you try eliminating a few of them, free yourself, lessen the hold each has on you and your daily life. Yea, I know your thinking, but some things I need like my car, computer, etc for work. I agree, there are definitely some "earthly possessions" you actually need to live and survive. And I'm not telling you to go and destroy and throw out the others that aren't necessary.

Just take note of which ones they are and try to alleviate some of the stranglehold they have on you, lower the time that each possession or addiction takes up of each day.

Lower your importance of "earthly possessions" & replace it with an importance on "spiritual & enlightened possessions"

“The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money.”

Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom? If you are going to buy into something, buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.
I believe someone who possess wisdom, education, knowledge, and continuing to have an open mind to learn and grow everyday is richer than any money value. The ability to keep an open mind, the desire to learn and grow in education/wisdom, try & experience new things, the hunger to grow spiritually, the drive to seek and explore unproven topics and grounds is quite possibly the most important possessions you could own in your lifetime. And these won't end up owning you in the end.

I encourage you, starting today to take note of your "earthly" and "spiritually/wisdom" possessions and see where your true values lie. Try to keep an open mind and start placing more emphasis on the "spiritual/enlightened" possessions, because only the wisdom and spiritual possessions are the ones that will last forever.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ~ Matthew 6:19-21

Leap of Faith

You know one man alive is homage to the rest…
Make record (an impact) in your journey...

My Leap of Faith

“Most of us live our whole lives…without any real adventure to call our own. What is any life without the pursuit of a dream?”

Well 800 miles, halfway across the country, I'm finally all moved and settled in & The Gatsby Life is ready to continue on this beautiful journey we call life and everything in-between. I hope you continue to follow and hopefully be inspired and continue your inspirational journey to inspire others!

Life is all about that journey that we seek and desire in our lives. We want it to be important, to impact, to inspire not only ourselves but those around us. We want it to have meaning/ a purpose, and a sense of hope... for something bigger than ourselves.
“Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.” ~ Louise E. Boone

How can you make your journey be inspiring, purposeful, important and everything in-between? It easier "said" than "done". There is no clear solution or answer, there is no right and wrong, there isn't only one way to do it, but there is only one way to get started. And that is NOW, don't take time for granted. Many put off for tomorrow, simple little tasks, exercising, cleaning, or larger tasks, such as getting out of your shell, stepping out of your "comfort zone", putting yourself out there, taking risks, trying new things, setting new goals. I'm sure many of you have heard of the saying "Stop putting off for tomorrow what you can do today!" We must remind ourselves of this simple saying and ACT NOW instead of LATER.

Remember:

“Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.”

Don't put off what you have time for today, because if you do, you are sure to become overwhelmed tomorrow. I understand, you will not be able to do everything today, some things you will have to set aside but take steps to accomplish and rid yourself of the procrastination that clutters your day to day life.

We got the Light to hold us up...

I just took a "leap of faith" myself.  I'm now living 800 miles away from where I lived the first 24 years of life, out of my comfort zone, new area, new people, new job, new environment, completely new turfgrasses/plants I've never worked with before. I'm not overwhelmed, because I'm ready for whatever life throws at me. But I've realized I can't just sit and expect life to throw what I want at me, I have to go out and pursue what I want in life, not only with a strong desire in my heart, but with an open mind.

“You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.” ~ Max Ehrmann

Things may not seem clear all the time, but that is part of life. It is up to you to achieve what you seek. It will not be handed to you, life is not hand delivered to your door, it must be sought out, it must be dared, challenged, and risks will be overcome. Accept challenges, take risks, and accomplish more than you can even imagine. Life is happening all around you, the time is now step out and into it, seek, explore, dream & discover!

“Fear less, hope more, eat less, chew more, whine less, breathe more, talk less, say more, hate less, love more, and good things will be yours.” - Swedish Proverb

To The Stars...

“God's promises are like the stars; the darker the night the brighter they shine” ~ David Nicholas

Growing old is getting old
I often find myself here thinking
About the birds, the boats, and past loves that flew away or started sinking
And life sometimes gets crazy
I used to think it was all out of my control
Staying up late, debating on how I'd find mine way
I'd say it's all up in the stars....

But really it's all waiting for us..
To seize the opportunities, live in the moment...
And among the stars...

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

“I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars.” ~ Og Mandino

The light is all around you, it shines during the day and lights up the night. It burns bright within you, the light is God and it is all around you. You have to capture and seize the light within you and harness the energy it brings everyday. You can accomplish so much more than what you really perceive

You may have yourself believing that you can only achieve a certain thing in life, a status, a position, a relationship, a skill, etc.  But really the stars are all in your reach and your dreams are infinite! Everyone in his or her lifetime has the possibility for a better tomorrow and brighter future, all that remains is the desire and drive to go out an obtain these dreams and reach the stars!
“Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.” ~ Pamela Vaull Starr

You must understand the moments are all around you, happening everyday. I only ask, "Can you seen them?" If so, you shouldn't think twice, reach out and go after them, pursue, dare, dream, discover the unlimited possibilities that await each one. You are wonderful the way God made you, but He wants you to take chances, fall, get up, and discover everything else that is out there awaiting for you.

"There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you’d better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you’ll never understand what it’s saying."

You ever hear of chaos theory?

It's a science.
It tries to determine underlying patterns in chaotic systems: Weather, ocean currents, blood flow, that sort of thing.

Well, it turns out that there are few things......more chaotic than the beat of a human heart.

Speeding up, slowing down. A pretty face, a flight of stairs.

It's always changing depending on what's happening to us out there.

It's an erratic son of a bitch.

But underneath all of that bump-a-ta-bump mess, there is, in fact, a pattern.

A truth.
And it's love.

The most important thing about love, is that we choose to give it......and we choose to receive it.

Making it the least random act in the entire universe.

It goes beyond blood,
it goes beyond betrayal......and all the dirt that makes us human.

And if you can figure that out..... the rest of the world got nothing on you.

“To be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path, and don't worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine brightest”

Cause we are
We are shining stars
We are invincible
We are who we are
On our darkest day
When we’re miles away
Sun will come
We will find our way home

If you're lost and alone
Or you're sinking like a stone
Carry on
May your past be the sound
Of your feet upon the ground
Carry on

“If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I'll bet they'd live a lot differently.” ~ Bill Watterson

Wanderlust

Photo Link for this amazing photography

~ On This Earth ~
Forget the things that you own
And travel almost anywhere you can go
Dance across the tree tips, set them ablaze
Soaking in their pleasant warm summer haze
While living on her streets and school city blocks
And finding streams on her while you're skipping rocks
And feeding on her touch as it will barely keep you alive
~ AvA ~

Explore. Dream. Discover.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~Mark Twain

As Mark Twain best says it, "So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails!"

Life for everyone can occasionally become stagnant from time to time, along with it's "ups & downs". The trick is to be on the watch & go out seize the opportunities when they arise. Take a chance on the opportunities when they are presented to you. Also have a desire to see and explore things you have not yet discovered.

To get started you have to paddle out of your "safe harbor" which is your "comfort zone". We all have a comfort zone, but the problem is, is that we spend too much time in this comfort zone. How can we discover or experience anything new if we have yet to leave the "safe harbor"? The adventures don't take place in the harbor, they take place out at sea. So put up your sails to catch the winds and you'll be sure to discover and experience something like never before!

Do not just think this pertains to traveling and places, but THINK metaphorical opportunities and situations all around you. Be a wanderlust in the world of Opportunities, Possibilities, Love & Kindness = LIFE

Wanderlust: def; "a great desire to travel and roam about"

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” ~ Henry Miller

As some would think "Wanderlust" just focuses on actually traveling and sightseeing new locations. But it doesn't, I encourage you to broaden your viewpoint and idea on this term. I'm encouraging you to become a "Wanderlust of LIFE". A Wanderlust of LIFE, has the great desire to spread love, hope, seize opportunities & challenges, & the great desire to impact others in the most positive way possible. Everyday you wake up, everywhere you go, no matter how big or small, reach out and inspire one another.

For example;
The simplest act of a "smile" :) can brighten the day for a stranger who is walking by you. A simple "HI" with a smile can completely elevate the mood of the person who receives it. I encourage you to try the simple act of smiling more. no matter how bad your day is going, the simple "smile" will not only brighten your mood but anyone else who see's it.

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” ~ St. Augustine

You live in a world full of wonders, full of God's everyday miracles. Natural landscapes of beauty, Canyons as deep and dark at night, Mountains as tall as the clouds, Rivers & streams so naturally flowing with curves because you know God doesn't build in straight lines. People of all talents, shapes and sizes, unique in his or her own way are all around you. The best time to start is NOW, be a "Wanderlust of Life"

Always have the great desire travel and inspire the people you meet along the way throughout your great journey called "LIFE". Impact everyone you meet in the most positive way possible. And always leave a positive impact on the earth, discover her beauties in your lifetime and leave it better than when you arrived.

“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu

Love the quote above, A good traveler has no fixed plans on life, and no intent of stopping, because he or she should continue to impact and inspire those around you, including yourself!

Trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

~ Proverbs 3: 5-6

A couple weeks ago I was reminded of the wise old story of Jesus’ calming the storm on the lake in Matthew 8:23-27

Quick summary:

A vicious storm approaches while they are out fishing and Jesus is asleep, the disciples cried out to Jesus “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown? Jesus responds saying to them, “Peace, Be still! you of little faith, why are you so afraid?” He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

This passage got me thinking about life and how sometimes it can seem out of our control. There will be times in your lives that don't go always to plan, times when the "storm" approaching in your life may seem overwhelming, the problem looks too big, the unknown path and which way will it lead.

You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life. ~ Steve Jobs

1. Trust/Faith In God

All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of the first things you can do to start living and overcoming obstacles you may face in life is putting your trust in God. Have faith in the Lord and let him know of not only the problems in your life but the good things & other thoughts on your mind. Start today, laying it all out there for your creator to see where your heart is. You have to "start & act" yourself to get started, but if you are trusting in God at the same time, you will achieve everything you set your mind to! So my message to you is to not only TRUST in God, but also BELIEVE & ACT!

~ "Peace, Be Still" Jesus is always watching over you, trust in him ~

2. Trust Others

Trust men and they will be true to you; treat them greatly and they will show themselves great. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

More than once in each of our life's we've been "wronged" & mistreated. The one thing you have to remember is, "it happens". But don't let things in your past affect your ability to trust others in the future.

Have faith in others as you would have faith in God. The most respect you can show someone is showing them that you can trust and have faith in them. No matter what the situation is, if you show that you can place your trust in them, they will be more inclined of wanting to please you and show that they can really be trusted. Think about the situation you are faced with and then trade places for a moment. Wouldn't you want to be trusted if you were the person? Exactly, so not only place trust in others, but show them that you have faith in them and verbally let them know you are proud of them when they either accomplish or continue to uphold your trust & respect.

~ You will have others be true and trust you in return, but first you, yourself must trust others. ~

3. Trust Yourself

As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live. ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

The final thing is you have to trust yourself, have faith in yourself! You have gotten this far being who you are, so keep working at it and always be striving to improve yourself and the others around you.

Everyone talks to themselves, it happens subconsciously throughout the day, so while you are talking to yourself, be sure you are speaking positively to yourself. Give yourself a "pep talk" instead of always weighing on the negatives & "what ifs". Start living life so you don't have to reflect back on the "what ifs" and start making it "what's next".

Live your life not only to inspire other people, but inspire yourself! Try to be constantly improving yourself in one way or another. Some people say be happy with who you are and what you have, well I only half agree with that. Don't just settle for who you are and what you have at the present time.  I believe you should be grateful with who you are and what you have, but then be trying to improve on who you are and what you have. Improve & Try to create a more positive & better quality of life for you & those around you. You can only do this by improving yourself first.

~ Start trusting yourself today & you will know how to live life ~

“Follow your heart, but be quiet for a while first. Ask questions, then feel the answer. Learn to trust your heart.”

If we cannot trust, neither can we find love or joy”

so Trust in God, in Others, & in Yourself!

"It is an equal failing to trust everybody, and to trust nobody."
