We're The Kids From Yesterday....& The Change for a Better Tomorrow

"They always say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." - Andy Warhol

Whether you see it on the TV, Internet, or in your own community; the conflict, violence, crimes, troubled youth, poor economy, neglected appearance of yards/streets, it's all around you.
Now take another look, the possible opportunities & positives that surround you are also abundant. But only looking and seeing the opportunities isn't going help out the future generations that follow. ACTING & DOING are the answers..

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems.” - Gandhi

All around you there are people or areas in need, volunteer opportunities in all shapes and sizes available. Anywhere from helping out a neighbor or cleaning up your neighborhood or community outside, to volunteering at your church, school, etc.. you need to find some way to give back!
Trust me, giving back doesn't have to be painful, long hours of boredom you may have once experienced. Just look around and volunteer a skill of yours, (We all have skills and things we enjoy) So use your skills and interests to benefit others around you for once! Maybe you enjoy organizing and creating the church bulletin's for the upcoming Sunday service, maybe you can help clean up & trim trees at a local park, maybe you enjoy teaching kids at a sunday school, you have skills and things you enjoy, I encourage you put them to use every now and then to "give back" instead of just "taking" in your lifetime.

We also must set the example... We are the generation growing up "connected" with facebook, twitter, youtube, and instant messages, social media, etc..

Think About It.. We are the most digitally connected generation in all of history... So let's be remembered for the positives it brings forth.. and not be part of the negatives it could result in. We (myself included) all need to look at our own lives, and see how we bring forth a more positive and brighter future for generations to come. I am not trying to "preach" here, I for one have started to see more and more things everyday that I could be doing differently and am taking action & the steps to be the change I wish to see in my future..

CHANGE YOURSELF -- "You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

YOU ARE IN CONTROL -- What you feel and how you react to something is always up to you. Realize that no-one outside of yourself can actually control how you feel you can start to incorporate this thinking into your daily life and develop it as a thought habit.
FORGIVE & LET GO -- You realize that forgiving and letting go of the past will do you and the people in your world a great service. And spending your time in some negative memory won’t help you after you have learned the lessons you can learn from that experience. By forgiving you release yourself from those bonds. And then you can focus your next opportunity in life.
STAY POSITIVE  -- Stay positive in your actions/talk/thoughts on & offline, Speak positively, live positively (everyone has problems, don't bring others down with your words)
TREAT OTHERS WITH RESPECT -- Treat others with the same respect you would want to be given... (Yes, I know the old fashioned "Golden Rule" but it even relates back to important teachings of Jesus, I think it should be applied Online as our society moves forward)
EAT & LIVE HEALTHY --  Eat & drink healthy and let's be the "images" we want to see in future generations to come. If kids see overweight adults trying to get them to eat healthy and exercise, they will only see hypocrites.

Some other important points to remember:

And lastly,

YOU can be the change that happens in this world, volunteering, being more positive to people, taking action, standing up for what you believe in.. it will not only change the world, but will influence the youth of tomorrow to follow!

“The future depends on what you do today.”  ― Gandhi

Thanks to the The Positivity Blog for some ideas on this topic

  1. Change doesn't just happen... You have to make it happen!

  2. for me, the hardest thing to do is to keep urself POSITIVE. Because sometimes I feel like keeping myself positive will always lead me to this "in denials" attitude. ha ha :P

  3. Yes, so true, Change doesn't just happen, But WE can make it happen, the time is now to create a better and brighter future.

Najwa - I understand what you mean, I also struggle with that also. But I have found the more you practice being positive and upbeat in situtations, the easier it is to stay positive and optimisitc day to day.

Thanks for the comments, it's great to get feedback!!
