The Christmas Spirit

We waited all through the year
for the day to appear
when we could be together in harmony
- Bryan Adams

The True Spirit of Christmas
Christmas time is a magical time of the year, the holiday season, coming together with family & friends, the joy, peace, and love we all share.

What is the "Christmas Spirit"? It can be summed up in 3 simple words -- Joy, Peace, & Love. But you can also describe it one word: "Jesus"

Jesus = Joy, Peace, & Love = Spirit of Christmas

It's that time of year, it's the one night when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we share a little more. For a couple of hours we are the people we always hoped we would be.  It's really a miracle because it happens every Christmas Eve. Don't waste that miracle.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness" - Galatians 5:22

Spread the Love, Joy, Peace
You have to do something. You have to take a chance and get involved. There are people that don't have enough to eat and who are cold. You can go and greet these people. Take an old blanket out to them or make a sandwich and say, "Here. "I get it now." And if you give, then it can happen, the miracle can happen to you. Not just the poor and hungry, Everybody's gotta have this miracle! It can happen tonight and today for you all!

But why do a lot of people only come to embrace this feeling of giving and love only once a year?

If you believe in this pure thing, the miracle will happen and you'll want it again tomorrow! You won't say, "Christmas is once a year." Because, it's not! It can happen every day!

You've just got to want that feeling.  You'll want it every day! It can happen to you.  I believe in it now. I believe it's gonna happen to me, now. I'm ready for it! And it's great. It's a good feeling. It's better than I've felt in a long time. I'm ready.

You Can Be The Change You Wish To See In This World

I encourage you to celebrate and live with the Christmas spirit not just for the holiday season, but each and every day. We can change the world if we embrace the spirit.

I know it's not too late
the world would be a better place
if we can keep the spirit more than one day in the year
send a message loud and clear
- Bryan Adams

Merry Christmas Everyone,
Spread the Spirit each and every day!

The Title is You

“You know who you are, you just have to believe it.” ~ Elizabeth Scott

In today’s day and age, you need to forget about all the titles/labels that get thrown around and focus on what really makes you, “You”.

It’s not your job, money, politics, possessions, age, genre, race, or personal preferences. Life is about your attitude, outlook and personality towards the people around you. This is defines the Title of  "YOU"

What Defines You?

“You've got to find yourself first. Everything else will follow.” ~ Charles de Lint

You need to forget about the idea of titles that you’ve heard before, society gives these titles, and hence, they are meaningless, just like money, a fictionalized monetary system created by man to govern a system. It is not how much money you make or how you’ve done it, but life on earth is about how you live your life and the attitude you bring each each day, this is what truly defines you!

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

You should not define yourself by material possessions or money that only weigh you down or society given titles such as job, race, labels, these are all fabricated. Your personality towards those who you come into contact with and your outlook on life is what really defines you. The God given human spirit within each of you is who you truly are. Get to know yourself before you let others (society) try to tell you who they think you are. Only God knows and you can too by seeking him and discovering your true self.

The thing is we are all similar, but also all unique. How so? We were all created to live on this earth, but none of us were created exactly the same. So why be “labeled” like anyone else? Be YOU! Get to know who you truly are. It lies within you, not outside your body, not within a name or job title, or possessions, but within your heart, mind, and spirit.

Stop Judging, Start Embracing

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” ~ Oscar Wilde

You should not give yourself a title(s) and especially not on anyone else. Treat everyone as if there were family. Spread love, hope, and open your mind that everyone you meet is your brother or sister “in spirit”. He or She is not a job title, an age, race, or label. Do not stereotype others or judge them for his or her opinions/beliefs/sexual orientation, this is what makes each of you unique.

Don’t let the old titles of yesterday define who you are today. So don’t look at others by giving them titles or labels and especially don’t attach a label to you. Because in this day and age, why would anyone what to be defined as a title(s)?

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” ~ Aristotle

God did not give you title, he gave you life, he gave you, “YOU” the unique, the one and only.

I am not a “Republican” or a “Democrat” …. I am an Citizen of the United States
I am not a “Catholic” “Lutheran” “Presbyterian” “Methodist” etc… I am a Christian
I am not White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, etc.…. I am a Human
The list goes on, but society titles should not…

Dig deep, seek it from within and let your mind & spirit define you, not society.
Life is about your attitudeoutlook and personality towards the people around you.
This is defines the Title of  "YOU"

Let no society titles define You, but define yourself with your own spirit

Om Nashi Me/Man on Fire

Om Nashi Me

Come & Set You Free…

Today is a beautiful day…

It will be different than yesterday and unlike the future tomorrows ahead....

So what sets it apart from all the days before and days ahead?
-- Well the response to that question is for you to create and answer for yourself.

There is no greater miracle in this world than the pursuit of an individual dream and being yourself. Be unique & let it show. Spread joy and hope to others. Seek out those heartfelt aspirations, no matter how big or small, far or nigh, thing or person… today can be the day you seek it out with all the potential you wish. That is what life is all about. Not about fame and fortune, don't worry about what others think, it only matters what you think and believe...

Man on Fire

I’m a Man on Fire,
Walking through your street
With one guitar & two dancing feet
Only one desire, that’s left in me
I want the whole damn world, to come dance with me…

Open up, slow down, then speed up, focus, get done, seek from within, then gaze out, refuel the fervor, reach out, stay true, rediscover yourself & pass on a positive imprints. Then do it all over again…
Free yourself of the everyday hindrances of irrelevant problems, news, gossip, mistakes, and everyday stumbles that limit your potential if you dwell on them. Free your mind & your spirit to grow! Enthusiastically seek out the important answers and dreams you yearn for. If you continue to let little everyday mishaps and blunders get in your way you could lose sight of the big picture.

Life is all about the big picture. So fuel the fire & be yourself. If you’ve lost your way, don’t be discouraged, you can find your path again.

Come dance with me..
Over Heartache and rage, come set us free
Over panic and strange,
I wanna see our bodies burning, like ole big sun..
I wanna know what we’ve been learning, and learning from…

Everybody wants comfort… Everybody wants safety… everybody wants  certainty….
Everyone except me….

I’m a Man on Fire,
Walking through your street
With one guitar & two dancing feet
Only one desire. That’s left in me
I want the whole damn world, to come dance with me…

- As each day holds its own.

Today is going to be a beautiful day.
Just like yesterday was, but nothing like today
And so tomorrow will be, but nothing like yesterday.
- As each day holds its own beauty.

The Human Connection

If you want to truly understand something, try to change it.

We are all connected today more than ever via the internet, cell phones, etc…. but are we really “more connected” than we were 20 years ago? I don’t think so, I believe we are not truly “connected” with each other. Without connection, we fail.

I see more and more people becoming disconnected from the real world and connected via social media/internet. I am not going to rant and rave on all the negatives of social media (Facebook, twitter, texting, etc) but I hope to inspire you to see some things in a new light, a different perspective.

“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” ~ BrenĂ© Brown

Are we all really more connected today?

Social media, internet, texting, etc…. is this really a true connection? Do you feel like you are really “connecting” with that person you contact or write to? Or has this generation already forgotten about the real connections? More and more people are on their cell phones (texting or social media) while in the presence of actual people in the same area/room. Or more and more people are only connected with family & friends via facebook, twitter, and other social media outlets. Is this really “connecting with each other or just the easy way out/non-risky way to do things?

I hope one day we each can realize the importance of true connections, face to face, voice to voice, touch, feel, listen, smell, actually see with your own eyes… the true connections….

“Just as the wave cannot exist for itself, but is ever a part of the heaving surface of the ocean, so must I never live my life for itself, but always in the experience which is going on around me.” ~ Albert Schweitzer

Connections will be some of the most important things in your life you will enjoy, remember, tell stories about. Not the (facebook/social media/text) conversations you read, but the face to face, the real life experiences, the real life adventures outside, the human connection. The friendships you make, the family you create, the face to face conversations, the true connections are the real thing. It is more alive, has more feelings, joy, happiness, or even sadness, these emotions are what make the human spirit come alive, thrive, and grow.

“This is a new and different world. The challenge is to cope with it. Not just cope but thrive.”

The challenge before you is to become more “connected” with others and with nature the way we were meant to with real human connections. I’m not telling you to give up facebook, twitter, etc… but this summer try to use a little less of it each day. Get outside, experience real life, experience nature, experience each other, and interact with people face to face instead of screen to screen. Experience that human connection that is there and real. Interact and experience life on a larger scale than you have ever imagined! Life is happening all around you each day, plants growing, the earth is alive, living, thriving, people need to slow down & step back, and step out….

“The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing.”

Technology is not the stand alone problem.

The issues lie within combination of technology and people. How capable are we setting limits and creating balance to maintain the very real human side in each of us?

Technology has a way of building us up on the outside, shielding us, and therefore placing overall importance on that, rather than the closeness we were made for and inner enrichment that we receive through actual human/nature connection.

Connection is perhaps the most cherished thing any human being can have.
The connection needs to be real, we need to feel this connection, whether it be by touch, sight, smell, hearing, etc.. this human connection we seek out cannot be fulfilled by technology, but instead by the real environment and people that surround us.

So from now on, seek out that true human connection, explore nature, experience life, connect with each other as we were created to…

Gratitude

The Happiness of Your Life Depends on The Quality of Your Thoughts.

Gratitude Turns What We Have Into Enough
Some days you may feel down, depressed, saddened, etc... maybe something didn't go "right" today, or maybe NOTHING went right today. But is it the end? No, there is always tomorrow. Many times we may experience these up and down moments or days, but we must always remember the GOOD Things in our lives and BE GRATEFUL for what we DO HAVE and not dwell on what we don't.

The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings! ~ Henry Ward Beecher

Instead of continuing to tell yourself of what you don't have in your life at the moment or haven't achieved, remind yourself of what you DO HAVE and what you HAVE DONE & ACHIEVED and how you can continue to do more! You may have already accomplished great feats and achievements, but remember, God doesn't set any limit for your dreams, so continue to let them grow and continue to chase after them set the bar high and don't be afraid to try!

Difficulty Presents Opportunity

Don't get discourage by difficulty, this is the only way you can learn/achieve something new.

"In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity" ~ Albert Einstein

Sometimes, the days may grow long, work gets tiring, getting older seems to only proceed onward. But we cannot let these small matters overcome the larger picture. The larger picture that includes all of the positives in your life! How Grateful do you feel today? What are you Grateful/Thankful for at the moment? Good health, family, friends, a secure job, good weather, etc.. the list could go on. The list of things you should be thankful for is infinite & sometimes you just need to slow down and remind yourself of everything that is POSITIVE in your life at the moment. The cynicism and negative thoughts may always seem the loudest in your mind or among a group people, but the Optimistic, Positive, and Grateful thoughts are the most powerful and life changing! So let these fill your daily life and overcome the negative and cynical thoughts.

Slow Down & Be Humble

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. ~ Tecumseh

So I encourage you today and everyday to slow down and take some time out each day to reflect on this topic of Gratitude and Give Thanks for what you actually DO HAVE in your life. It may also it may help you to not get as easily discouraged by each day's events. Maybe it will help you become more humble for the small things in your life and learn not to take them for granted. You will start to notice the small little things that are often overlooked each day, such as; , having food to eat, clean water to drink, good health, electricity, money, entertainment, a good book to read, or
friends and family. Whatever it is no matter how big or small hopefully you will start to realize you cannot take these things for granted no matter where you live and you should give thanks for each one.

Gratitude & Appreciation
Give God thanks each opportunity you get and also never hesitate to give thanks to one another, show your appreciation and gratitude towards others each and every day. The smallest complement can make the biggest difference!

Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts. ~ Alan Cohen

Put your faith and trust in God and be grateful of everything and every opportunity he presents you! Many people wake up day after day and don't realize all of the little miracles, opportunities, and events God presents to them each day. If you haven't tried looking at it in that perspective, I encourage you to try tomorrow and one day you'll see how everything is connected. God is watching, listening, and waiting for you to reach out to him, it is never too late, He is a loving and giving God. No matter what you tell him that is on your mind or bothering you, he always listens.

As for me, I'm  grateful just to have shoes on my feet, good health, the best family/friends I could ask for, and a loving God I can put my trust and faith in. I'm thankful for all of these reasons and so many more!
- Ross

I'm Thankful to God and every opportunity He presents me.

My Invincible Summer

"To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour." ~ William Blake

Your daily life can be any experience you want it to be everyday. The choices you make, the thoughts you think, the actions you do or don't take. And also how you interpret things you encounter, such as how you hear, see, taste, smell, and feel. We are all unique and different in so many ways I can't describe. We may all hear the same thing, but do we all listen? We may all see the same thing, but we do not all see it in the same frame of mind.

Wasting Time..Worrying & Living in the Future...

We spend our whole lives worrying about the future, planning for the future, trying to predict the future, as if figuring it out will cushion the blow. But the future is always changing. The future is the home of our deepest fears and wildest hopes. But one thing is certain when it finally reveals itself. The future is never the way we imagined it. ~ Shonda Rhimes

You, yes! you reading this post, (first off, Thank You for taking time to read my blog, you are in inspiration to me in so many ways). Do you sometimes question yourself or wonder if you are living your life to the fullest or maybe could be doing something different? I know I do. Maybe wonder about being  happier, or maybe different job, or live in a different area, or wonder if this is what God had planned for you? But with all these questions, we cannot have all the answers at once. Instead we should stop worrying and start believing, trusting, and living.

"Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." ~ Howard Thurman

Live by this quote and strive to do what makes you feel "alive inside". Then you will not only feel happier and more alive, but you may impact and inspire all those around you.  Show the world what inspires you, what motivates you, what "drives/fuels" you, and live it!

We mostly work to live... Until we live to work?

Life should be about happiness for us while we experience our brief time on earth. Why do we concentrate and spend so much money and time on earthly possessions, working to spend money, then spending money to buy happiness? I encourage you to look at your purchases (other than food & utilities) do you really need all of this for happiness? So many other cultures and people in other countries the world get by with so much less than what we have each day in the United States. Think more often, do we always need more to eat, another helping? really? or more spending, buying, or more to endulge in? Don't buy your happiness, instead create it! Create it with what your given or what you already have and also with who you have around you. If you are only happy when you have rich earthly possessions, then you are poor mentally & morally.

Your true wealth in this world, is how much you would have if they lost all of your money. Something money can never buy.  (Love & Happiness)

I encourage You to get back to working to "live" instead of living to "work"

Earthly possessions can bring you joy or happiness, but it's not true happiness, and it's usually short-lived. Have Less & Be More Alive.

“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.” ~ Albert Camus

You can search/buy/waste life on looking for happiness in materials and earthly possessions. You can also search/worry about the future until the future as already arrived and then realize all the worrying was time wasted.

The future will arrive whether you are ready or not. And happiness will only find you if you open your heart to truly experience life and the time you have each and every day.

Stop worrying, start believing & trusting. Stop trying to buy happiness and open up your heart instead. Embrace every obstacle, every challenge, every opportunity life throws at you. Reach out and explore LIFE.

The Invincible Summer Within Us All

No matter how old you are, how much experience or in-experience you have, within you lies your very own invincible summer. What motivates you, what drives you, what inspires you and with that you can do and achieve anything you want to. You can feel young again, you can always be happy, be joyful, be humble... The choice is yours... today.

Sometimes it may years of experience, sometimes it may not, but one day you will find your invincible summer.

"In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” ~ Albert Camus

It's always been there, waiting to be free...

The Green Light

The Green Light....

We're all chasing it.... In one form or another.

You see the "Green Light" is different for each and every one of us. The question is; What is your "Green Light"? & do you see yourself reaching it and obtaining it?

Maybe it's finding your; soul-mate, one true love, or the perfect job, your passion,  "calling" in life, your meaning, your truth, your purpose.  Regardless, it is something you seek with all desires of your heart. I Hope you see now how it is different for everyone around you, since we are all unique in our own way. Your heart desires many things in your lifetime, but one thing may stand out above the rest.

Just as Jay Gatsby stood at the end of his pier every night for all those years, reaching out towards the Green Light..... For His one true love....

"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us.
It eluded us then, but that's no matter---
Tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther....
And one fine morning---"
 ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Green Light....

If you haven't figured it out by now, F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" may have had a influence in the naming of this blog AND also it's continued passion to spread LOVE & HOPE to all of YOU! I actually read "The Great Gatsby" almost a year ago and was confused that it didn't quite turn out as I thought it would. I didn't quite understand what it all meant, but it took me reading a second time and more looking/diagnosing it over thoroughly, to understand what Fitzgerald was trying to get across in this "great american classic" as it is labeled by so many.

The "Green Light" represents Jay Gatsby's hopes and dreams for the future. Therefore, to Gatsby, the light is symbolic of his "dream" which is Daisy. You can see in the beginning of the book, Gatsby is guided by the light through the darkness to lead him to his goal. It hit me hard, Jay was seeking his "Green Light" (his everlasting love) for Daisy, although she was married. He wanted to be as closest to her as possible without possibly disrupting her life. He had gone to war;
traveled the world, been so many places,  but at the end of the day he stood at the end of his dock leading all back to Daisy. Which is what he most wanted in life. Standing at the end of his deck, [across the bay from Daisy & Tom's house] he would reach out at night, he had come so close, yet was so far away....

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.  ~ Henry Stanley Haskins

The Green Light in You....
So what do you seek and desire with all your heart? You see the thing is... it doesn't matter how old your are, whether you're 20 yrs old or 60 yrs old your heart still desires something or many things. It desires something more than anything else in this world. Only YOU know what it is....  The question will you seek it out or let it stay out of reach as Jay Gatsby almost did for so long...?

We are all chasing something, just as Gatsby chased the Green Light. We all have different purposes in life; different meanings, different loves, different fantasies, the question is; Have you created a life for yourself where you're free to experience them?

Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out.  ~ Art Linkletter

You Can Receive/Obtain It!
Just as Gatsby believed in the Green Light. I believe in The Green Light also. No matter what the Green Light is to you specifically, it is out there for each of you. To seek, to desire, to chase after, to explore, to love, to welcome, to embrace, to dream, to discover, to hope and to learn from. You might not (achieve/acquire) or receive it all today or tomorrow for that matter. But remember if you put your heart and mind to it and give it your all [100%] then you may some day reach your "Green Light".
Who is to tell you you cannot?

Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart. ~ Kongzi

And who is to tell you that you only have one "Green Light"?  I believe it is a series of "Green Lights" throughout our lifetime, so put your heart into it and obtain everything you seek. Promise yourself to live your life as a revolution and not just a process of evolution. ~ Anthony J. D'Angelo

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past"   ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

Many of you may know, that F. Scott Fitzgerald ended his book with the quote/line above, but I think he forgot the most important part, So, I'll finish it myself....

"Even so, we shall press on against the waves, over each swell, continuing the motion, until one day, one moment, we finally open up and give it everything we got, and then we see..." ~ Ross

Glasses of Water [Life In The Present]

Scared of losing all the time
He wrote it in a letter
He was a friend of mine
He heard you could see your future
Inside a glass of water
The ripples and the lines
And he asked
"Will I see heaven in mine?"

The past week, I've been having my struggles, with both worries of the future & pondering of the past.

But as you know it, God was also trying to teach me something and gave me some signs along the way. The thing is it took me awhile to finally see them all come together and make sense. Do you also have times in your life that you get caught up worrying about the future or the past is on your mind constantly, reflecting on different events or things once said or done?

Look For The Signs
One sign was earlier this week, one of my favorite Coldplay songs "Glass of Water" came on my ipod on the way home from work, and this song completely relates to this post, check it out! Another sign was the bible verse of Philippians 3:13-14. A thought came into to my mind out of nowhere to read through some of Philippians yesterday, so I was scanning though and found Philippians 3:13. As I started to read it, I knew exactly what God was trying to tell me.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,  I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

How Full or Empty is My Glass?
This is one question we should never ask, because it's something we'll never know. God has a plan for each of us, but we must be living in the "present" to be living out this plan and do our part.
Son don't ask
Neither half full or empty
Is the glass
Cling to the mast
Spend your whole life living in the past
 Going nowhere fast

Set Your Own Direction In The Present
Slow down, look around, open up, & live in the present making your own experiences. These "Signs" are all around you, for He is trying to tell you something. If you don't slow down and open up sometimes, then you'll miss out for sure. So don't get caught up in the media, news, earthly possessions, but take some time each day to not only speak to God but most importantly LISTEN to Him. (for more check out: Gatsby Life post - Breathe)

Action & Living [Not Your Worries] in The Present Determine Your Future.
God won't answer all your questions at once, and I know you may have never ending list of questions. So we can't look at this life as just a "Glass of water" because it will never be "crystal clear" to us. Don't let your water stand still by living in the past or constantly rippled of future worries. Instead live in the present, forget your worries of the future and days of the past. The decisions you make today to start living more in the present will ripple positively throughout your life and give you more peace in life.

The Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him the most;
He said: "Man, because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies having never really lived."

Live In The Present
So I encourage you to start living in the "Present" this is your life here on earth and remember tomorrow is not guaranteed, but Today IS . Yes, I know it is smart to plan financially for the future and remember those loving memories, but at the same time remember that LIFE is HAPPENING Now, no longer in the past and not yet in the future, but right now in your life! So open up your heart, listen and look for the signs, take chances, reach out, and be active in the present!

Oh and what are we drinking when we're done?
just Glasses of water

The Adventure

Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
When you close your eyes, do you see the future?
If you could escape from your past...
Would you be ready for the next Adventure?
- AvA

Life is full of ups & downs, highs & lows, joy & grief, love & pain and let's not forget about everything in-between.

When we are at the highs & lows in life, we may sometimes forget a little about God. Especially when everything is going good (the high) times and maybe even during the low times also. What about the times we are in-between  these ups & downs of life? Waiting patiently for something to happen?

Just as Dr. Seuss wrote in the classic "Oh, The Places You'll Go"
“You can get so confused
that you'll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place...”
~ Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go!

We wait in this place between are ups & downs. While we wait, this is when many of us spend the most time seeking out God. Throughout most of our lives with all the the ups & downs, we sometimes only tend to passionately seek Faith & God the most during the lows or these waiting periods between "Lows & Highs." Which is Great!, but don't get me wrong and misunderstand me, because seeking out God & strengthening your Faith is Great!  BUT! We should not forgot about God no matter what "place" you are at in life; Low, Middle, or High! Seek Him whether you're down, whether your in-between, or whether everything is going great in your life!

Look back and thank God. Look forward and trust God. Look up and seek God. Look around and serve God.

On Top Of A Mountain
When we are at one of the "high" times of our life (on top of a mountain) everything is going good. We sometimes can get pre-occupied with what is going "well" for us in life, whether it be your job, new relationship, busy times, fun times, vacation, etc... Just don't forget about God and what got you to this good time of your life and be grateful of what you have at the moment!

Down in The Valley
Maybe we are experiencing a "low" time (down in the valley) or in-between (and trust me, we will all at one time or another in life & multiple times throughout life).  But maybe we feel like we've have gotten away from our Faith & God since we were once busy with the"high" good times in life we were experiencing before.  But now we're back down to the middle or even lower, Well DON'T WORRY! Because God wants you back and always welcomes you with open arms!

These are the times God wants You and Him to get know each other again! He wants to learn, grow, re-evaluate, and show you that he now has a new exciting things planned for you! So get excited again, because God is always working for you! Remember: You also need to continue to be working for him. So get excited and start on your new path today! Are you ready for your next adventure?

If God is for us, who can be against us? ~ Romans 8:31

The Whole Journey (From The Mountains to Valleys, & Everything In-Between)
So my message to you today is...
You may be experiencing either a Low (down), Middle (waiting), or High (good) point in life at the moment (and you'll get to experience all 3 multiple times in life). Regardless of where you are currently at this moment, don't stray away from God and your Faith! Especially during the "Ups" in life, this is the best time to give thanks and praise to God!

During The High - Be Grateful, Praise, Give Him Thanks, Worship and Let others know of God's Gifts!
During The Middle - Wait, Trust, Be Patience & Persistent in Your Faith.
During The Low  - Seek, Discover, Understand, & Give Him Thanks for What Lessons You've  Learned!

But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. ~ Deuteronomy 4:29

Keep God Close For Your Entire Adventure
No matter where you are "at" in this moment, High, Middle, or Low;  I hope you don't forget & stray away from your Faith & God. God is working for you each and every day! Sometimes we get caught up in what's happening "now" in our lives and only see how good or bad things are at the moment. But remember, God is always Great! He is always working for you, even if you can't see it in the low valley or you forget about it on the mountain top.

Keep God Close All The Time!

Purpose; To Believe

“I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness. That is clear. Whether one believes in religion or not, whether one believes in this religion or that religion, we all are seeking something better in life. So, I think, the very motion of our life is towards happiness…”  ~  Dalai Lama

Purpose in life? What is yours? What is mine?

Maybe we are looking at it the wrong way?

I (and maybe you too?) tend to wonder what is my purpose in life? Why am I here, How am I here? What does God intend for me? How do I fulfill my purpose? The questions continue... Do you sometimes feel the same way?

So What Is Your Purpose in Life?
Spoiler alert! I'm not going to tell you exactly what is your purpose in life, I cannot answer that question, only God knows and you will only find out as you continue on your journey! But The Gatsby is along for the journey with you...

Purpose: is such a diverse word, maybe we are looking at it too broadly?

Purpose = Multiple Things (Not Just a Single Purpose)
Your purpose is not just one thing, always remember that! Although you may make one, two, three, or more big contributions in your lifetime to a certain person, area, field of study, or job. Your purpose is really a combination of a multiple of simple things throughout your lifetime. Some so small that you may take for granted, or you think don't have any impact or meaning on someone, but really they do! It could be as small as a simple smile towards a stranger you pass by on the street, that could reverberate a hundred times over throughout the day, spreading joy and happiness to people you don't even know! It's that remarkable!

Your Purpose is Your LIFE

Your purpose is not a certain job or task you need to complete in your lifetime, it's living a meaningful/peaceful/loving life to benefit and glorify God!  Remember, no matter what you do, do not embarrass him with your actions or talk, but embrace the love and happiness and spread it all those around you!

You live a life like no one else here on earth. YES, that is true! Stop and think for a second, has anyone else lived your life? wore the same clothes? worked at the exact same place? had the same friends? had the same exact interests? sounded the same? looked the same? laughed the same? smiled the same? the answer is NO, so the answer is to LIVE and Spread Love, & Be Yourself!

“The purpose of life is not to be only happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Your Purpose on Earth
Your purpose on earth isn't the end of your life, it's only the beginning! What you do on earth may impact one, or ten, hundreds, or thousands, or even more in your lifetime or future, who knows.  Remember, what you believe and practice will also impact yourself and what happens beyond your life on earth too, never forget that!  Don't Look at your purpose on earth as one big thing, but as a series of little things you do throughout your lifetime. A series of unintentional little things you do throughout your life on a day-to-day basis that a positively impacts all those around you and beyond!

So What is Your Purpose?
Well again, I can't answer what your "exact big purpose" that God intends for you, but I do know that your purpose also consists of many small things that God intends for you to spread and rejoice in!  Such examples are; being a good friend, faithful husband or loving wife, reliable & responsible person, a role-model, a great community member, a peacemaker, an optimistic person, a joyful, caring, loving, hopeful person to others around you, a trusting/honest soul, being humble with what you have, & so much more!  All these "little things" you take for granted everyday, which make you a "good" part of society is a HUGE part of your purpose here on earth.

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.” ~ Dalai Lama

I hope you spread JOY, LOVE, CARE, HELP, HOPE, PEACE, FAITH, TRUST, HONESTY,  HAPPINESS, during your "time on earth". As long as your are part of the "Good" of society as you live and breathe here on earth, then you are fulfilling part of your God given PURPOSE! So are you being beneficial/helpful towards others? Or are you being negative/pessimistic (bringing others down with your actions or even worse... your "talk" or words?)

I encourage you to find what lies within you...find LOVE & Happiness. Don't be afraid to spread it to all those around you. Don't be afraid to reach out, speak out, take a chance, a leap of faith perhaps? and truly experience this beautiful ride we call "life on earth."

One Last Thought...
I encourage to stop measuring everything. You can't measure everything, so don't try to. You can't sum up your purpose in one thought or sentence, (at least I hope not) because it consists of a series of unintentional little day-to-day things that inspire/impact those around you.  It's time to start spreading the Good Word & Love!

Stop looking for the beginning of your fairy tale ending and start writing your own story.... experience life & positively impact everyone you meet along the way!

Remember, What you've done or will do in your life may change what someone else is doing in his/her life, and it changes everything! It's so amazing.. LOVE

Faith, Family, & Friends

You know, you really only need 3 things to enjoy and experience life here on earth...
Faith, Family, & Friends...

In the past I've talked about "Simplifying" your life in many different ways with such posts as;

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify!
Which talks about getting about getting back to nature and the world around you. Stray off the beaten path, to find a new path, and possibly simpler way of life.

The Simple Things..
One of the Gatsby's first posts, we wanted to emphasize the importance on the simple things in life right from the start of this movement! Always remember the simple things in life, because they will bring you the most joy in life!

Some Origins Of Fire
Some Origins of Fire is one of my favorite posts I've made, because it shows exactly what "The Gatsby Life is all about.... the one and only important thing in this world... and that is LOVE, it's truly the only thing we all need in this life, to give and receive LOVE.

Have Less. Do More. Be More.
The title is self explanatory here, but I encourage to take 5 mins to read this post along with the others, We should all try rely less on our "earthly" possessions, and remember; “The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money.

 Breathe
One of my more recent posts on "Simplifying Life". This post was very helpful to me, not only when I was writing it, but also putting it into practice in my daily routine! Yes, that's right, I practice what I preach, I hope you take 5 mins to read "Breathe" and possibly reflect back on how to take 5-10 mins every morning/night to give thanks and have an open mind/heart ready to greet the day!

FAITH, FAMILY, & FRIENDS
The Gatsby Life = Simplifying Your Life, & Enrich Your Spirit
As you can see at least 5 posts in the past 12 months have focused on "Simplifying" your and my life. So you may start to suspect this is one of The Gatsby Life's important topics and will continue to be in the future, as we get more complicated in our daily lives with work, technology, friendships, faith, and everything else that gets thrown into the mix; such as the news, world affairs, the weather, stock market, etc..

SIMPLIFYING Once Again
How can we eliminate some of these "unimportant worries" (in my opinion)? I have stopped watching the news, espn, celebrity news, stock markets, weather, world problems.. etc etc. etc...  Now I am not saying to totally disconnect yourself from society, that would be horrible and possible hurt your perception of reality. But couldn't you use a little less of all that "Unnecessary stress"? I know I can and I have taken measures in my life to reduce it. I encourage you to as well! You may be asking; "how though?"

I'm not saying completely cut yourself off from society, but don't give in easily to the news, pessimistic headlines, let's turn to something better, find something more inspirational, such as Faith!  For example in my life; I don't watch the news, i'll see quick a headline flash on MSN or Yahoo every once in a while, but I won't "dive" into the story, don't let your day be consumed with these negative reporting tactics,

REFOCUS.
Refocus on your life and what is currently happening, focus on work, friendships, your loves, your family, your hobbies, your faith, your church. Don't be part of the negatives in the world that were mentioned above. But lets all start to band together and make more inspirational stories together, regardless if these don't make the headlines or the 6 o'clock news, you know of good things around you, and the best way to spread love and hope is by being LOVE & HOPE to those around you and everyone you meet in your lifetime!

So I encourage to try at least some of the following things; to simplify your life and create a more inspirational journey of your lifetime here on earth.

Turn off the News/Espn
- a little less of each will go a long way, instead take the time to talk face to face with others, your family, friends, loved ones. How often to do you watch the news, but think... does it really affect you the next day? NO, cause the news is only on for your entertainment & to make money, so don't give in!

A little less facebook, twitter, social networks
-First off, let me say, I do love the social networking of today, it's a great technological advancement, but let's pull back the reigns a little bit, and let's have more FACE-TO-FACE conversations instead! More phone conversations, skyping, face-time, etc... let's reconnect in a humanistic/natural way to your true friends and family. Life is all about "CONNECTION" (which is a future Gatsby Life post, stayed tuned!)

Stop worry about what is happening "Tomorrow" and starting Living life, which is happening now!
- This wraps about everything else and that previously mentioned, our "news" tries to frighten our future, & "world affairs" will impact our tomorrow? the weather is predicted? NO, So why don't we all starting living in the NOW and creating our own tomorrows!

Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify, simplify! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail. - Henry David Thoreau

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify, Henry David Thoreau said it 3 times for a reason, but maybe it requires a few more times. At The Gatsby Life, we feel it requires multiples times of reminding you and even myself! So let's continue to Simplify, Simplify, Simplify our lives, and truly focus on what's important in your life. Not earthly possessions, or daily news or sports, or gossip, or predictions, but the simple things in life; which you can always find in nature, in faith, in family, in friends, in Love and in yourself!

Faith, Family, & Friends, is all that is really required to enjoy and have a meaningful life, so let's get back to our roots. Where does your main focus lie? Where does the majority of your time each day go to? Let's all try to direct more of our daily lives towards Faith, Family, & Friends which is LOVE.

Faith, Family, & Friends, I hope you find each one and never let go!

Patience

You may have heard the phrase "Patience is a Virtue"

But, what does this mean?
Virtue: A virtue is a positive trait or quality deemed to be morally good and thus is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being.

So patience is a great trait to possess and practice everyday, if only it was that easy right?

It is very strange that the years teach us patience - that the shorter our time, the greater our capacity for waiting. ~ Elizabeth Taylor

We All Need More Patience
How can we have more patience? I know I need more patience everyday and in a variety of situations whether it be patience for the future, patience for the day, or a single given task. We all need to remember to have more patience! Patience is such a simple act, that is quickly overlooked, so maybe that is what makes it so difficult to abide by and practice often.

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I get caught in the "Now" and "Instant Gratification" of today's society, do you also? Our culture/society today has grown to be accustomed to wanting & getting everything he/she needs or wants right NOW at this moment. How can we break this habit? This is not only the everyday necessities that we seek out, but we tend to want everything our heart desires for the future, such as; love, friendships, job, money, "the whole nine yards", but we must remember! We cannot and SHOULD NOT have it all at once. Have Patience, Seek Peace & Trust in God. Then, and only then will you receive everything your heart seeks & desires in life.

“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” ~ Aristotle

Remember: Patience is sometimes a hard thing to endure, but the end result is worth it....

Patience in Life, Patience in God

Just as we need to practice patience in our everyday life of desires and wants, we also need to have Patience with God. Pray and talk to God about what you want and seek in life, put your trust in him, but remember you may not receive instant gratification from God. He does not work that way, just because you prayed for something on Monday, doesn't mean it will happen on Tuesday, you need to give it time, show him you TRUST HIM and be PATIENCE.

Pray often, Open up Your Heart & Mind. Then and Only then you will see the true gifts from God. I encourage you to pray every night or morning, open up your heart, show you are vulnerable, but also show him you truly believe and trust and give thanks for what you already have in life!

“The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Always REMEMBER What You Prayed For!

Think back, remember what you prayed for in the past. Whether it be a day, a week, a month, a year ago. Think back, remember and then you will see God was really listening and was waiting for the right time to respond. You may think "right now", right after you prayed in the "Right" time for what you want, but you need to be PATIENCE and then you will see.....

Christianity is about a lifetime of growth. The most mature believers that you know still need to deepen and grow. That is the them of the Old Testament book of Job. The most mature follower of God repents at the end of the book, because he considered himself good enough, then realizes that the best we can be is still miles short of God's absolute perfection.

When God responds and answers your prayers... Be sure to Give Him Thanks!

Patience = Action at The Right Time.

“Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action; rather it is "timing" it waits on the right time to act, for the right principles and in the right way.” ~ Fulton J. Sheen

Fulton J. Sheen, says it perfect above, Patience is not an absence of action, but it is more about timing, have patience for the right time to act. Always remember this!

The keys to patience are acceptance and faith. Accept things as they are, and look realistically at the world around you. Have faith in yourself and in the direction you have chosen. ~ Ralph Marston

“Time has no meaning, Love will endure..” ~ Jude Deveraux
