Faith, Family, & Friends

You know, you really only need 3 things to enjoy and experience life here on earth...
Faith, Family, & Friends...

In the past I've talked about "Simplifying" your life in many different ways with such posts as;

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify!
Which talks about getting about getting back to nature and the world around you. Stray off the beaten path, to find a new path, and possibly simpler way of life.

The Simple Things..
One of the Gatsby's first posts, we wanted to emphasize the importance on the simple things in life right from the start of this movement! Always remember the simple things in life, because they will bring you the most joy in life!

Some Origins Of Fire
Some Origins of Fire is one of my favorite posts I've made, because it shows exactly what "The Gatsby Life is all about.... the one and only important thing in this world... and that is LOVE, it's truly the only thing we all need in this life, to give and receive LOVE.

Have Less. Do More. Be More.
The title is self explanatory here, but I encourage to take 5 mins to read this post along with the others, We should all try rely less on our "earthly" possessions, and remember; “The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money.

One of my more recent posts on "Simplifying Life". This post was very helpful to me, not only when I was writing it, but also putting it into practice in my daily routine! Yes, that's right, I practice what I preach, I hope you take 5 mins to read "Breathe" and possibly reflect back on how to take 5-10 mins every morning/night to give thanks and have an open mind/heart ready to greet the day!

The Gatsby Life = Simplifying Your Life, & Enrich Your Spirit
As you can see at least 5 posts in the past 12 months have focused on "Simplifying" your and my life. So you may start to suspect this is one of The Gatsby Life's important topics and will continue to be in the future, as we get more complicated in our daily lives with work, technology, friendships, faith, and everything else that gets thrown into the mix; such as the news, world affairs, the weather, stock market, etc..

How can we eliminate some of these "unimportant worries" (in my opinion)? I have stopped watching the news, espn, celebrity news, stock markets, weather, world problems.. etc etc. etc...  Now I am not saying to totally disconnect yourself from society, that would be horrible and possible hurt your perception of reality. But couldn't you use a little less of all that "Unnecessary stress"? I know I can and I have taken measures in my life to reduce it. I encourage you to as well! You may be asking; "how though?"

I'm not saying completely cut yourself off from society, but don't give in easily to the news, pessimistic headlines, let's turn to something better, find something more inspirational, such as Faith!  For example in my life; I don't watch the news, i'll see quick a headline flash on MSN or Yahoo every once in a while, but I won't "dive" into the story, don't let your day be consumed with these negative reporting tactics,

Refocus on your life and what is currently happening, focus on work, friendships, your loves, your family, your hobbies, your faith, your church. Don't be part of the negatives in the world that were mentioned above. But lets all start to band together and make more inspirational stories together, regardless if these don't make the headlines or the 6 o'clock news, you know of good things around you, and the best way to spread love and hope is by being LOVE & HOPE to those around you and everyone you meet in your lifetime!

So I encourage to try at least some of the following things; to simplify your life and create a more inspirational journey of your lifetime here on earth.

Turn off the News/Espn
- a little less of each will go a long way, instead take the time to talk face to face with others, your family, friends, loved ones. How often to do you watch the news, but think... does it really affect you the next day? NO, cause the news is only on for your entertainment & to make money, so don't give in!

A little less facebook, twitter, social networks
-First off, let me say, I do love the social networking of today, it's a great technological advancement, but let's pull back the reigns a little bit, and let's have more FACE-TO-FACE conversations instead! More phone conversations, skyping, face-time, etc... let's reconnect in a humanistic/natural way to your true friends and family. Life is all about "CONNECTION" (which is a future Gatsby Life post, stayed tuned!)

Stop worry about what is happening "Tomorrow" and starting Living life, which is happening now!
- This wraps about everything else and that previously mentioned, our "news" tries to frighten our future, & "world affairs" will impact our tomorrow? the weather is predicted? NO, So why don't we all starting living in the NOW and creating our own tomorrows!

Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify, simplify! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail. - Henry David Thoreau

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify, Henry David Thoreau said it 3 times for a reason, but maybe it requires a few more times. At The Gatsby Life, we feel it requires multiples times of reminding you and even myself! So let's continue to Simplify, Simplify, Simplify our lives, and truly focus on what's important in your life. Not earthly possessions, or daily news or sports, or gossip, or predictions, but the simple things in life; which you can always find in nature, in faith, in family, in friends, in Love and in yourself!

Faith, Family, & Friends, is all that is really required to enjoy and have a meaningful life, so let's get back to our roots. Where does your main focus lie? Where does the majority of your time each day go to? Let's all try to direct more of our daily lives towards Faith, Family, & Friends which is LOVE.

Faith, Family, & Friends, I hope you find each one and never let go!

You may have heard the phrase "Patience is a Virtue"

But, what does this mean?
Virtue: A virtue is a positive trait or quality deemed to be morally good and thus is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being.

So patience is a great trait to possess and practice everyday, if only it was that easy right?

It is very strange that the years teach us patience - that the shorter our time, the greater our capacity for waiting. ~ Elizabeth Taylor

We All Need More Patience
How can we have more patience? I know I need more patience everyday and in a variety of situations whether it be patience for the future, patience for the day, or a single given task. We all need to remember to have more patience! Patience is such a simple act, that is quickly overlooked, so maybe that is what makes it so difficult to abide by and practice often.

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I get caught in the "Now" and "Instant Gratification" of today's society, do you also? Our culture/society today has grown to be accustomed to wanting & getting everything he/she needs or wants right NOW at this moment. How can we break this habit? This is not only the everyday necessities that we seek out, but we tend to want everything our heart desires for the future, such as; love, friendships, job, money, "the whole nine yards", but we must remember! We cannot and SHOULD NOT have it all at once. Have Patience, Seek Peace & Trust in God. Then, and only then will you receive everything your heart seeks & desires in life.

“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” ~ Aristotle

Remember: Patience is sometimes a hard thing to endure, but the end result is worth it....

Patience in Life, Patience in God

Just as we need to practice patience in our everyday life of desires and wants, we also need to have Patience with God. Pray and talk to God about what you want and seek in life, put your trust in him, but remember you may not receive instant gratification from God. He does not work that way, just because you prayed for something on Monday, doesn't mean it will happen on Tuesday, you need to give it time, show him you TRUST HIM and be PATIENCE.

Pray often, Open up Your Heart & Mind. Then and Only then you will see the true gifts from God. I encourage you to pray every night or morning, open up your heart, show you are vulnerable, but also show him you truly believe and trust and give thanks for what you already have in life!

“The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Always REMEMBER What You Prayed For!

Think back, remember what you prayed for in the past. Whether it be a day, a week, a month, a year ago. Think back, remember and then you will see God was really listening and was waiting for the right time to respond. You may think "right now", right after you prayed in the "Right" time for what you want, but you need to be PATIENCE and then you will see.....

Christianity is about a lifetime of growth. The most mature believers that you know still need to deepen and grow. That is the them of the Old Testament book of Job. The most mature follower of God repents at the end of the book, because he considered himself good enough, then realizes that the best we can be is still miles short of God's absolute perfection.

When God responds and answers your prayers... Be sure to Give Him Thanks!

Patience = Action at The Right Time.

“Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action; rather it is "timing" it waits on the right time to act, for the right principles and in the right way.” ~ Fulton J. Sheen

Fulton J. Sheen, says it perfect above, Patience is not an absence of action, but it is more about timing, have patience for the right time to act. Always remember this!

The keys to patience are acceptance and faith. Accept things as they are, and look realistically at the world around you. Have faith in yourself and in the direction you have chosen. ~ Ralph Marston

Together We'll Ring in The New Year

Click Here --> Photo Link for this amazing photography.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. ~ C. S. Lewis

The New Year
Is here! & some look at the New Year as a time to reflect back on the previous year and come up with changes we wish to make in our life in the upcoming year.

Life takes on meaning when you become motivated, set goals and charge after them in an unstoppable manner. ~ Les Brown

As you, me, or many may be making new years resolutions for hopes and changes he or she wish to make in this new and upcoming year, such as plans, goals, aspirations, etc.. that you wish to accomplish finally this year. My only question is... why do we wait?

Why do we wait to make these "New Year Resolutions" at the start of the year? Shouldn't we be making them everyday and continue to come up with new plans, challenges, and goals to continue to strive to accomplish them or any new ones we can think of along the way?

Shouldn't we?

I believe, Yes, we should! You, I, and everyone you know should continue to grow, experience, challenge, take risks, set and reach new goals, face obstacles, live, love, laugh, cry, dream, discover, dare, and so much more on a daily basis. Let's not limit ourselves to setting new "goals & dreams" (resolutions) at the start of each New Year, but instead lets constantly be trying to grow, dream, face obstacles, take risks, achieve goals, overcome challenges each and every day!

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.  ~ Thomas A. Edison

I encourage you throw away this old idea of only setting new goals at the start of the year, instead do it everyday or at least every week! No matter how big or small they are, these new  "resolutions" (goals/dreams/challenges) are important to make each and every day, so CONTINUE to set out and seek them!

When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life. ~Greg Anderson

You may sometimes think; "Nothing here has worked out quite as I expected.

But always remember; "Most things don't. But sometimes what happens instead is the good stuff."

The Only Way We Grow is By Trying
"The only real failure is the failure to try."

Always remember to TRY, because Succeed or Fail, you will have grown regardless of the outcome, because at least you tried!
I've decided that I’m not looking for just one discovery in my life. I am seeking out a life of endless discoveries...

Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find his right road. Dag Hammarskjold

So this New Year of 2013, lets forget about the "big" new year resolutions that many forget and don't complete anyways, but instead plan and continue to make small changes and goals on a daily/weekly basis. Set forth and achieve these goals, and only then you will notice how much you start to grow from them. Never stop making daily/weekly changes, taking risks, & never be afraid to fail, because only then will you succeed in life and you will truly grow.
