Faith, Family, & Friends

You know, you really only need 3 things to enjoy and experience life here on earth...
Faith, Family, & Friends...

In the past I've talked about "Simplifying" your life in many different ways with such posts as;

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify!
Which talks about getting about getting back to nature and the world around you. Stray off the beaten path, to find a new path, and possibly simpler way of life.

The Simple Things..
One of the Gatsby's first posts, we wanted to emphasize the importance on the simple things in life right from the start of this movement! Always remember the simple things in life, because they will bring you the most joy in life!

Some Origins Of Fire
Some Origins of Fire is one of my favorite posts I've made, because it shows exactly what "The Gatsby Life is all about.... the one and only important thing in this world... and that is LOVE, it's truly the only thing we all need in this life, to give and receive LOVE.

Have Less. Do More. Be More.
The title is self explanatory here, but I encourage to take 5 mins to read this post along with the others, We should all try rely less on our "earthly" possessions, and remember; “The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money.

One of my more recent posts on "Simplifying Life". This post was very helpful to me, not only when I was writing it, but also putting it into practice in my daily routine! Yes, that's right, I practice what I preach, I hope you take 5 mins to read "Breathe" and possibly reflect back on how to take 5-10 mins every morning/night to give thanks and have an open mind/heart ready to greet the day!

The Gatsby Life = Simplifying Your Life, & Enrich Your Spirit
As you can see at least 5 posts in the past 12 months have focused on "Simplifying" your and my life. So you may start to suspect this is one of The Gatsby Life's important topics and will continue to be in the future, as we get more complicated in our daily lives with work, technology, friendships, faith, and everything else that gets thrown into the mix; such as the news, world affairs, the weather, stock market, etc..

How can we eliminate some of these "unimportant worries" (in my opinion)? I have stopped watching the news, espn, celebrity news, stock markets, weather, world problems.. etc etc. etc...  Now I am not saying to totally disconnect yourself from society, that would be horrible and possible hurt your perception of reality. But couldn't you use a little less of all that "Unnecessary stress"? I know I can and I have taken measures in my life to reduce it. I encourage you to as well! You may be asking; "how though?"

I'm not saying completely cut yourself off from society, but don't give in easily to the news, pessimistic headlines, let's turn to something better, find something more inspirational, such as Faith!  For example in my life; I don't watch the news, i'll see quick a headline flash on MSN or Yahoo every once in a while, but I won't "dive" into the story, don't let your day be consumed with these negative reporting tactics,

Refocus on your life and what is currently happening, focus on work, friendships, your loves, your family, your hobbies, your faith, your church. Don't be part of the negatives in the world that were mentioned above. But lets all start to band together and make more inspirational stories together, regardless if these don't make the headlines or the 6 o'clock news, you know of good things around you, and the best way to spread love and hope is by being LOVE & HOPE to those around you and everyone you meet in your lifetime!

So I encourage to try at least some of the following things; to simplify your life and create a more inspirational journey of your lifetime here on earth.

Turn off the News/Espn
- a little less of each will go a long way, instead take the time to talk face to face with others, your family, friends, loved ones. How often to do you watch the news, but think... does it really affect you the next day? NO, cause the news is only on for your entertainment & to make money, so don't give in!

A little less facebook, twitter, social networks
-First off, let me say, I do love the social networking of today, it's a great technological advancement, but let's pull back the reigns a little bit, and let's have more FACE-TO-FACE conversations instead! More phone conversations, skyping, face-time, etc... let's reconnect in a humanistic/natural way to your true friends and family. Life is all about "CONNECTION" (which is a future Gatsby Life post, stayed tuned!)

Stop worry about what is happening "Tomorrow" and starting Living life, which is happening now!
- This wraps about everything else and that previously mentioned, our "news" tries to frighten our future, & "world affairs" will impact our tomorrow? the weather is predicted? NO, So why don't we all starting living in the NOW and creating our own tomorrows!

Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify, simplify! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail. - Henry David Thoreau

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify, Henry David Thoreau said it 3 times for a reason, but maybe it requires a few more times. At The Gatsby Life, we feel it requires multiples times of reminding you and even myself! So let's continue to Simplify, Simplify, Simplify our lives, and truly focus on what's important in your life. Not earthly possessions, or daily news or sports, or gossip, or predictions, but the simple things in life; which you can always find in nature, in faith, in family, in friends, in Love and in yourself!

Faith, Family, & Friends, is all that is really required to enjoy and have a meaningful life, so let's get back to our roots. Where does your main focus lie? Where does the majority of your time each day go to? Let's all try to direct more of our daily lives towards Faith, Family, & Friends which is LOVE.

Faith, Family, & Friends, I hope you find each one and never let go!
- Ross
